We use the Autism Clinical Interview for Adults (ACIA), developed by Newcastle University.

Comment: Again, input from someone who knows you well can be valuable at this stage.

Important Age Requirements

We usually assess children aged three and above. For children under 3 years showing signs that could be attributable to autism, please consult with your health visitor and GP first. Contact: iowhealthvisiting@solent.nhs.uk

Important Service Information

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)

This service can only diagnose autism. We cannot provide diagnoses of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). According to DSM-5 and ICD-11, PDA is not currently a recognised diagnosis and therefore we will not refer to this in our report, although we do include recommendations to support demand avoidant behaviour.
